The Office for Access & Accommodations  promotes disability access and arrange accommodations for students, staff, and the campus community.

Achieve a comprehensive, fee-for-service program of managerial, organizational, structural, and tutorial support for students with learning differences.

The Career Development Center strives to educate and empower all students and recent alumni with the knowledge to successfully discover and achieve their career goals.

The Center for Service-Learning and Volunteerism seeks to support and foster the university mission of service by preparing students to be engaged, aware and responsible citizens.

The Confidential Advisor can assist with understanding University processes and procedures including investigative and disciplinary hearings. The Confidential Advisor can also assist with interim measures including accessing counseling, modifications of work or class schedules, extensions of time or other course-related adjustments.

The purpose of the First Saluki Center is to provide the valuable support, guidance and encouragement first-generation students need to stay in school and earn their degrees.

The First Year Experience program is designed to help new students transition smoothly into college life by fostering meaningful connections, building academic confidence, and promoting campus engagement. Through a combination of orientation events, monthly checklists, advising support, and access to resources like housing, dining, and student organizations, FYE ensures students feel welcomed and prepared from day one. 

The fraternity and sorority life community at Southern Illinois University enhances the student experience by fostering an environment for academic excellence and leadership opportunities while being committed to service and welcoming to those of different backgrounds, cultures, and interests.

New Student Programs is the department that welcomes and supports incoming students through orientation and campus engagement. With events like Saluki Startup, Weeks of Welcome, and New Student Orientation, the team helps students connect, explore campus resources, and start their college journey with confidence—while also providing guidance for families and supporters.

Non-Traditional Student Services (NTSS) serves SIU Carbondale’s adult student population through guidance, support, and resource referral to enhance educational experiences from the point of entry to degree completion. NTSS also seeks to foster a sense of belonging among adult students by building community through scholarship, service, and support.

Rainbow’s End Child Development Center is a unit of Student Affairs on the campus of Southern Illinois University Carbondale.  It is a comprehensive full-time child development program licensed to serve 133 children, ages 6 weeks to 8 years, for University students, faculty, staff, and community members. 

Saluki Cares facilitates and coordinates a University-wide program of care and support for students in distress. By working closely with faculty, staff, students and their families, SIU Carbondale displays a culture of caring by demonstrating to our students and families that they are an important part of the community.

The Office of Student Engagement’s purpose at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is to engage students on campus through meaningful involvement opportunities that enable students to gain leadership experience while also serving the campus community.

Students' Legal Assistance ("SLA") seeks to enhance the students' experience at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale by advising students of their specific legal issues, which would enable them to overcome legal obstacles which might otherwise impede their educational progress. We, also, strive to enrich the Saluki experience by educating the students of their legal rights, legal responsibilities and collateral consequences through preventive legal education activities.

The primary goal of the Student Ombudsperson is to provide students impartial and informal consultation in assisting with the possible resolution of University related concerns and issues. The Student Ombudsperson is a resource for students in navigating the University while seeking resolution to individual student concerns. The Student Ombudsperson is a designated administrator who is trained and skilled in interpersonal communication, problem solving, and conflict management.

The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (SRR) addresses allegations of student misconduct in a developmental and educational manner with the primary focus of providing students with the tools necessary to remain productive members of the University community.  SRR assists in the administration of the Student Conduct Code, provides interventions in response to allegations of misconduct, and educates students regarding their rights and responsibilities as members of the University community.
