SIU offers a variety of ways to travel around the Southern Illinois University campus and the Carbondale community. From bicycle maintenance to the Saluki Express, there's nowhere you cannot go!

Saluki Express

The Saluki Express mass transit system provides students, faculty, and staff, as well as the Carbondale community reliable transportation around our region and community. Academic year routes will begin four days prior to the start of the fall semester.  When school is not in session, The Pyramid and Sahara Routes will be in service.  No routes will run on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Juneteenth.

VEO Scooters

SIU and the City of Carbondale are proud to announce a partnership with VEO Scooters! Over 300 scooters are available to anyone 18+ located within the Carbondale service area, including students, Carbondale community members, and visitors.

Paratransit

In addition to ADA accessible Saluki Express fixed routes, Rides Mass Transit District also provides accessible complementary paratransit transportation for Southern Illinois University. Student need to call Office for Access and Accommodations (OAA) at 618-453-5738 to establish eligibility for this service.

Saluki Night Shuttle

Saluki Night Shuttle is provided as an extension of Saluki Express powered by JAX. It provides a safe means of transportation for SIU students both on and off campus in the evening hours.
