PARATRANSIT

In addition to ADA accessible Saluki Express fixed routes, JAX also provides accessible complementary paratransit transportation for Southern Illinois University. Student need to call the Office for Access and Accommodations (OAA) at 618-453-5738 to establish eligibility for this service.

Rides are available:

Academic Semester
  • Monday through Friday    6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Saturday                        10:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • Sunday                          12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Campus Breaks

  • Monday through Friday    10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Saturday                        12:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Sunday                          12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Summer Routes

  • Seven days a week         7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

AFTER being approved by OAA, students can schedule rides by contacting JAX:

Rides must be scheduled between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7 a.m. and between 4 p.m. on Saturday. Please call as soon as possible to request paratransit transportation, as 24-hour advanced noticed is preferred.

Be prepared to give:

  • Your name
  • Address where you need to be picked up
  • Address where you need to go
  • Time you would like to be picked up
  • Time you want to return, if needed
